Hoverthorn
Floating sessile-mobile hybrid that releases an irritant cloud when grazed.

About Hoverthorn
CautionPlateaus and open water
Hoverthorns straddle the line between plant and animal — they hover in slow currents above plateau biomes and react sharply when grazed. The defensive cloud causes mild oxygen drain and impairs vision for several seconds. Cut from outside the cloud or wait for a current to disperse it. Each cluster yields useful organic matter, so the species is more often a scheduled stop than an avoided threat. Time your harvest to a period when no other predator is in the area, because the irritant cloud makes you a much easier target until it clears.
How to handle an encounter
- · Approach only with a plan. The species reacts to crowding or contact.
- · Scan from outside its threat radius before considering a closer pass.
- · Move on once you have the data; do not linger near the spawn.
