How map confidence works

  • Officially Confirmed
Confirmed by Unknown Worlds in news, Steam, trailer or storefront. Shown when officially published.
  • Trailer Analysis
Inferred from official video frames or screenshots. No precise coordinates.
  • Expected Biome
Reasonable expectation from prior games or EA description. No coordinates.
  • Awaiting Verification
Queued for inclusion, waiting for an in-game verification. Coordinates pending.
  • Verified In-Game
Confirmed by player capture from a legitimate retail/EA build. Full coordinates shown.
  • Pre-release Leak
Sourced from an unofficial pre-release build. Not retail data. Never shown.

About the tracker

Subnautica 2 enters Early Access on May 14, 2026 at 15:00 UTC. This page is a fan-made map tracker that catalogs confirmed creatures, points of interest, and trailer-derived sightings ahead of the launch. Day-0 ships a static showcase: marker listings grouped by a six-tier confidence system, a sonar-grid preview, and search across the seed catalog. Live interactive filters and a Leaflet canvas with verified coordinates ship at Phase-1.5, within 24 to 72 hours after the unlock.

Why no coordinates yet? The pre-launch period has no legitimate retail captures, and Unknown Worlds confirmed unofficial pre-release builds are circulating. We treat any data sourced from those leaks as a separate confidence status that never displays coordinates and is never promoted to verified. Verified-in-game markers require a screenshot or video that shows the official build identifier.

Spoiler-light mode is the default. The toggle in the site header hides medium and high-spoiler markers. Your choice persists in your browser. Once Phase-1.5 ships, the same toggle controls the map canvas, and a URL parameter lets you share a filtered view without forcing your spoiler choice on the recipient — URL beats local storage when both are present.

Frequently asked

Does this map show verified coordinates?
Not yet. Pre-launch markers are labeled by confidence: officially confirmed, trailer analysis, expected biome, or awaiting verification. Verified-in-game markers begin flowing in after Early Access unlocks.
Why is the toolbar partially disabled?
Day-0 ships a static showcase. Search and Share are interactive. Type and status filters open at Phase-1.5, within 24 to 72 hours after Early Access unlocks, alongside the live map canvas.
How do I submit a location?
Submission opens after Early Access launch with an audited review queue. Pre-release leak captures are not eligible for verified-in-game status.
What does Awaiting Verification mean?
Queued for inclusion, waiting for an in-game capture. Coordinates are listed as pending until a player verifies on a legitimate retail or Early Access build.
Why is leaked-build data treated separately?
Pre-release leaks are unofficial and incomplete per Unknown Worlds. We label them with their own status, never auto-promote them, and never publish their precise coordinates.
