Needler Mango
Spined predator that fires barbs at short to medium range.

About Needler Mango
AggressiveReefs and shallow caves
Needler Mangos are reef predators that fire barbed spines from a short distance. Each volley applies a brief slow effect that compounds if you take repeated hits, so the danger is positional more than numerical. Stay outside their firing arc, approach from above, and close in for a knife strike between volleys. The species rotates between solo and small-pack behaviour depending on the season state of a biome. Their barbs salvage as a low-tier crafting material, but the same trip usually returns better resources from the surrounding reef, so engagement is opportunistic rather than required.
How to handle an encounter
- · Disengage on first contact. Distance beats damage trade against this species.
- · Break line of sight. Most aggressive species lose lock within a minute.
- · Engage only with a clear oxygen budget and a planned exit.
