Pneuma
Inflatable filter feeder used as a soft current marker.
About Pneuma
SafeMid-depth open water
Pneumas are inflatable mid-water filter feeders. They drift along established currents, expanding and contracting in long slow rhythms, and form one of the most reliable visual cues for current direction in unfamiliar territory. A sudden mass deflation across a column of Pneumas is a soft warning that something larger is moving through. They are otherwise passive and harmless. Scanning one is worth the time for the databank entry and for the navigation read, because following a healthy Pneuma column is a simple way to find resource-rich downstream pockets without trial-and-error swimming.
How to handle an encounter
- · Approach freely for scans and harvest.
- · Use the species as a soft biome cue — sudden absence usually signals trouble.
- · Cooked or salted variants stack well for long dives.
