About Quadrate
SafePlateaus
Quadrates are edible four-finned fish common across plateau biomes. They sit between Foureye and Halfmoon in the food chain and form stable schools that tolerate a fairly close approach. They are ideal for a mid-game stockpile because they are easy to find, harvest cleanly without aggression, and cook into reliable meals. Two or three Quadrates support a long dive without resupply. They also serve as a soft biome cue — Quadrate schools will not tolerate strong currents or recent predator activity, so an empty plateau tile usually means one of those two factors has changed recently.
How to handle an encounter
- · Approach freely for scans and harvest.
- · Use the species as a soft biome cue — sudden absence usually signals trouble.
- · Cooked or salted variants stack well for long dives.
