Sandspear
Burrowing ambush predator that strikes from below the sand.

About Sandspear
AggressiveOpen sand flats
Sandspears are burrowing ambushers that lie flush with the sand and strike upward when prey passes within range. The strike is fast but extends only a short distance vertically. Stay above 6-8 metres of clearance over open sand and watch for small surface plumes that indicate a recently-active burrow. If one engages, climb immediately rather than swim sideways; their tracking is poor in the vertical axis. The dropped spine harvests as a low-tier weapon material. The flats they frequent are rich in resource nodes, so learning the strike rhythm is a worthwhile early-game investment.
How to handle an encounter
- · Disengage on first contact. Distance beats damage trade against this species.
- · Break line of sight. Most aggressive species lose lock within a minute.
- · Engage only with a clear oxygen budget and a planned exit.
