About Sea Olive
SafeReefs and ledges
Sea Olives are passive reef grazers that drift over ledges and outer reef walls. They tolerate close observation and form a reliable databank source for biology research. They are not edible and provide little harvestable material, so most encounters end with a scan and a polite pass. Their distribution is sensitive to water clarity, so a tile densely populated with Sea Olives is usually a clean biome with low predator pressure — a useful spot to plant a temporary base or wait out a chase if the surrounding biomes are getting crowded with hostile activity.
How to handle an encounter
- · Approach freely for scans and harvest.
- · Use the species as a soft biome cue — sudden absence usually signals trouble.
- · Cooked or salted variants stack well for long dives.
