Water Slugs are soft cave-dwelling grazers that fill tunnels in the early-game cave systems. They are completely passive and provide a reliable databank scan for biology research. Their organic mass harvests easily and stacks well, and a single tunnel can yield multiple slugs without aggression from any other species. The presence of a healthy Water Slug population is a soft all-clear for the rest of the tunnel — predators in this depth band tend to displace them quickly, so an active slug colony is one of the cleaner indicators that the immediate area is safe to traverse without armour.
How to handle an encounter
- · Approach freely for scans and harvest.
- · Use the species as a soft biome cue — sudden absence usually signals trouble.
- · Cooked or salted variants stack well for long dives.
